Ultimo Fin de Semana

On Tuesday I returned, with a few fellow class mates, from a three day trip in Mendoza, Argentina. After having spent a little over a month here in the city, it was nice to get away.

Mendoza is Northwest of Buenos Aires. Twelve hours by bus! Fortunately for us, we took an overnighter. Otherwise I think most of the passengers would have gone insane. Elebaires had arranged the whole thing. Our bus tickets, accommodations and two activities (wine tour and day hike in The Andes) were taken care of at school, saving a lot of the hassle of having to do it ourselves - or having done it in the first place. All we were responsible for was food and any additional activities (horseback riding, white-water rafting or paragliding) we wanted to do on our free day.

With tree-lined streets, rushing rivers, plentiful wildlife and The Andes a "hop, skip and a jump" away, Mendoza is a Mecca for the outdoor enthusiast! And I haven't even mentioned the wine. Whether one wants to taste some world class Malbec or pitch a tent on a mountain, Mendoza is a refreshing, quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of BsAs.

Elebaires classes are small so, I didn't know a lot of the other students. This trip was a great opportunity to meet my fellow school mates! I also made friends with students from Mexico, Norway and, other parts of the states who happen to be studying at the many universities here in the city. I would have never had the chance to meet any of them if it was not for this trip. It was a great experience and, I am definitely looking forward to the next one!

Semana Santa en Buenos Aires

Hola a todos!

La próxima semana es una semana especial. Como en Argentina la mayoría de las personas pertenece a la Iglesia Católica, los días jueves y viernes se suspenden las actividades de rutina para que las personas puedan estar libres para participar de las celebraciones. Muchos prefieren tomarse esos días de vacaciones, entonces la ciudad estará vacía! Pueden ver celebraciones religiosas en las calles el día viernes, y se llama Via Crucis (el camino de la cruz). Las personas representan (actúan) los últimos días de la vida de Jesucristo.
El Domingo se celebra la Pascua y todos comemos en familia... se podrá oler mucho asado en la ciudad también!!
